Maybe someone out there can answer this Microsoft question for me? When I
try to play a video encoded in AVI, I only get audio with no video. Same on
all three players (WMP, realone, & quicktime). Does anyone know if I am
missing some setting somewhere in the Microsoft programming preventing them
from playing?

Look at www.dvdrhelp.com and search for codecs and a program called avicodec. The program will help tell you which codec the avi file uses and whether you have it installed or not. Also Gspot is another good program for analysing codecs. Although a file is coded as AVI it can use anyone of numerous codecs for the compression algorithms information is available from the above site. Abd there are several packages available as free download which install several codecs at a time.
