Avi Problems, Audio no Video, Specific problems listed...

Like everyone else I am having .avi issues. I do have a
few more specifics though. I just reinstalled the most
up to date WMP9 and tried to play this file to but all i
am getting is the black screen with audio playing. i
installed some new codecs and the video played once.
After it ended I could no longer play it. The video, now
instead of being a blank black screen, was one image from
the start of the video in just greenish and pinkish
colors. I dont understand why this is occuring. I can
watch the .Avi file, but only once and I have to
reinstall the Divx codec for it to work. After that one
time i have to reinstall the codec again.

Please help, and respond to (e-mail address removed) if you have
any advice, I might not be able to find this thread
again.

Then use a newsreader like Outlook Express instead of the web interface...

Download and install the FFDShow filter. This can decode pretty much all
mpeg4 video files (of which DiVX is just one) and might work better for
you... Also, have you tried checking the forums on www.divx.com for similar
problems, or asking for help there? Could be a dodgy encode...
