Hi,

I have been using the AVG Free Edition ver. 7.5.472.
When it detects a virus the AVG Resident Shield window
is displayed.
It contains 4 options: Ignore, Info, Heal and Move to Vault
It waits for my decision for some seconds only.
It is possible that I am far from the computer when it appears.

My questions are::
1) What happens when I don't answer?
2) Where and how could I set what I want the AVG to do
when I don't answer?

I would be very grateful for your help.

Right click the AVG icon in the tray by the clock,
choose "Launch AVG Test Center"
At the top of the Test Center window click "Tests",
choose "Complete Test Settings"
Check the box labeled "Automatically heal infected files" and whatever else you want
to do when scanning.
Click OK.

I have one more question. I heard that not all viruses/files can be healed.
What happens in such case?

If the infected file is in use at the time it's detected try scanning from safe mode.
The file could be contained in your system restore in which case you can turn off restore
in control panel/system restart the computer, then enable restore again. That would clean
the restore out and get rid of the infected files if they are in restore.
You can also search online for the identified virus/trojan and find manual removal
instructions. Symantec, McAfee, etc all have good information on manually removing
stubborn viruses.
You can ask here for help also. David, Art et. al. are experts and can give you quick
and good advice.

is it ignored or sent to vault (providing I told it to heal infected files automatically).

Its renamed and sent to the virus vault to prevent it from executing.
What I used to do was let AVG put them in the vault. Once I was sure the
machine I was working on was clean, I'd empty the vault.
