AVG will not assist me as I used a free verion. Since the virus came thru Friday, everything still runs very slow.

by the way avg says it cant uninstall c/windows/system32/autoexenet File not suitable for running ms-dos microsoft windows... Is there any way around this. I keep getting pops ups from AVG only that I have the back door virus...

Yep, you certainly loose something when you use the free versions. It's
called "factory support". Did you try their user forums (if they have any)?

Download Stinger (free) from http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger and run it
to double check your system. Or go to http://housecall.trendmicro,com
and do a free online scan of your computer.

What is the name of the virus and where exactly is the virus located.

AVG (and most other antivirus programs) cannot remove a virus that is
located in the \System Volume Information\_restore folder of a hard
drive. However viruses located there are totally encapsulated and
cannot spread from there or do any harm unless and until you use
System Restore to set the system back to an earlier time.

AVG is telling you the name and location of the file it cannot delete.
It cannot delete this file because it is in use.
Write down the name of the file and try deleting it yourself in windows explorer.
If it is still in use then use the task manager (process tab) to stop it and then delete it. You will probably find there are
several
processes running with the same name..
It took me several minutes to stop them all. The run AVG full scan again and then again..
When all is clear you will be OK.
