AVG not automatically updating?

I have AVG set to update at 5 am if database is older than 1 day and repeat
in 1 day if not successful. Whenever I've checked lately, however, the
virus database is several days old. When I then update manually, there's
always a new database with the current date. Have an always-on T1
connection.

Try this if you haven't done it already.
Go to your AVG6 folder under program files > grisoft
find url.ini
rename it url.ini.bak or something you can change back if you want to

copy/paste this into a new notepad file (not wordpad) and save it in the same folder as
url.ini

exit AVG and restart it, or restart comp
wait and see if it updates by itself... if not,
I haven't helped you, but no harm was done.
this file is good and works perfectly for me and others
You can choose update servers at will with this file
by opening Control Center > Update Manager tab and clicking
the drop down arrow under "download from server"

Mine was doing the same thing for awhile with my dialup connection, but it's
updating OK now. I'm not exactly sure why, except possibly... I went to the
Scheduler and Update Manager and went through and clicked "OK" to
everything, all settings and properties options. Then it started working.
Maybe it needed initialization, or something. Or maybe the update server was
lazy for awhile. I don't know. That happens, and it starts working OK again
after awhile.
