Avast conflicts with Kaspersky

YZ

I have Kaspersky antivirus personal 5.0.227. I want it to be on-demand
scanner, as it slows the machine down when in the background. I want
Avast to be the background scanner. When Avast loads, it comes up with
message that Kaspersky was detected already running, therefore Avast
will be disabled. there are no Kaspersky processes in the Task manager,
and the option "Load when the windows starts" is off in Kaspersky. How
can I prevent this conflict?

I want to have both, since I like KAV for power and I like Avast for
flexibility and for a lot of options.

TIA

It is contrindicated to have two AV applications installed at the same time. You see why.

You may be able to have the two coincide if you setup each application to not do the same
function as the other or interfere with the other. For example, Avast "On Demand" scanning
and Kasperski performing "On Access" scanning but not both performing "On Access" scanning.

Choose between them and have only ONE active AV application and I suggest it to be
Kasperski.

You can use TrendMicro Sysclean as an "On Demand" scanner becuase it has no formal
installation process, does not as a serice or in the background and it will not interfere
with any other installed AV application. Just make sure you download SYSCLEAN.COM and the
Pattern File before you perform an the "On Demand"

The use of Art Kopp's Sys-Up utility automates that process and you would only have to
execute SYS-UUP.EXE to get the latest updates and perform the "On Demand" scan
