avast 4.6 at home

I'm using a windows xp (home computer) I've been using avast for a year or
now, and unless an expert tells me otherwise, it protects me well.


the problem is: I don't know how to configure a scan so that it will look
inside zip (archive) files....

Can someone teach me IN A NOVICE'S terms. or lead me to a link which will do
the same thing

Open Avast. Click on the picture of the hard drive on the right. A little
window should pop up that says what type of scan and there should be a
little box there that says "Scan archive files". Hope this helps.
