autotext pop-up lists

I have created a template with several pop-up lists for paragraphs in
autotext entries
(http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word/HA101154401033.aspx). I was
wondering if there is a way to delete the field once I have chosen the
autotext entry to insert. It seems more difficult to edit the paragraphs
once they're inserted when the autotextlist field is still there.
 
To tell the truth, I thought the insertion of the AutoText entry did
overwrite the field, but I see it does not. However, you can unlink the
field using Ctrl+Shift+F9.
