Autotext & Autocorrect in Word 2003 vs. Word 2000

In Word 2000, I had a neat feature where I used
autocorrect so that when I typed "ZZZ" and the space bar,
it became "Sincerely, four carriage returns, name, and
title." I have Word 2003, and when I try to "format text"
in autocorrect, it is not an option (insert>autotext>then
autocorrect tab...Replace Text with Formatted Text)...the
formatted text feature is always grayed out. Maybe there
is a better to way add the closing but this is how I did
it in Word 2000. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Ben,

Works for me but I would use an AUTOTEXT entry myself.

For AutoCorrect,

Type out your closing and select it. Then Tools>AutoCorrect Option. Choose
the Formatted Text radio button and type xxx in the replace with box and
check add.

I wouldn't use either AutoCorrect *or* AutoText. I use a letter template
with the complimentary close already in it, in a Closing style that has 36
points Space After, followed by my signature, in Signature style. See

Greg,

Thank you very much. I used your directions to create
different Autotext and Autocorrect entries. The "format
text" option appears in Autocorrect when I create it
using your instructions...but doesn't show up.

I am going to experiment to see if either Autotext or
Autocorrect is "Font Specific" because I create items in
both Times Roman and Ariel.

Thanks.

Suzanne,

Thank you very much for your reply. I love templates and
like your suggestion. However, I work at an insurance
agency that has an "agency management system" integrated
with MSWord. When we create a letter through the "system,"
it merges data into a form letter...I do not get to create
my own form letters. Although I cannot use my own
template, the AUTOTEXT and AUTOCORRECT options help me
with these letters.

Best wishes for the Holidays,

Ben
