Autosaving, remembering passwords, default file sort, synchronising, and file changes

Hi folks,

OK, lots of questions :-)

I am using FrontPage 2003 on Win XP Pro.

1. Is it possible to get FP to remember the password when connecting to a
remote site? Mine doesn't and it seems a bit odd whereas so many other
programs can do this without issue, plus it removes the "seamless" nature of
synchronising with a remote FTP site.

2. Is it possible to set a default file sort or filter in the Folders view?
I want to sort by file type, but when I restart FrontPage it switches back
to sorting by Name.

3. Why does 2-way synchronising take so long? It can take 10 or 20 minutes
to synchronise my local version on the site with my FTP folder, even when
there are no changes to be made, and there are only about 1500 files. If I
do a one-way "synchronise" from local to remote it only take a few seconds +
any file copy time. My FTP link is certainly not slow.

4. Every now and then when doing a one-way synchronise it will warn me that
1 or 2 files on the FTP (web) site have changed e.g. index.htm. I am kinda
curious as to why this might be, as I certainly haven't changed them with
other programs. Any ideas?

5. Does FP have an autosave buried anywhere? Again, to keep inline with
other MS packages, and the Office suite, I'm surprised it doesn't seem to
have this. It's very frustrating to lose x minutes of work when FP crashes.

TIA

1) Controlled by IE settings under Tools Internet Options Security Trusted Sites Custom
- select prompt for Automatic login w/ current user name... under User Authentication, then add your URL to the Trusted Sites list
2) No
3) Under FTP there are no Server Extensions to check if anything has changed at the server side so FP "publishes" the whole site
back
4) If your pages have any scripts links to other sites or stats FP could see that as a change
5) No - FP is not document based and that would create potential server problems

OK, excellent. Thanks!
2) No
Shucks.

Hummm. OK stupid question. I believe the server I use has FrontPage 2002
extensions (even though I'm using 2003). How on earth do I use them? I
assume it isn't accessed like FTP? Sorry to be dumb...
4) If your pages have any scripts links to other

Ahhhhhh, they do. I didn't realise this would change the page. Thanks!
5) No - FP is not
document based and that would create potential server problems

Hummm, I guess even if it created a local backup to recover if FP crashed it
would be good.
