autosave=10min. worked on file saved then shut but no new .doc

I have autosave set to activate every 10mins and have worked on a .doc for
the whole afternoon. I saved it (thought I did atleast) then shut down the
computer. When I reopen it the file is the version is that of last night, the
previous time i edited it. I looked in the autosave folder - nothing. I tried
File Recovery but it maintains the latest version is that of last night.
Please help.
