how to enable autorun tryed but without any joy

You can enable AutoPlay in TweakUI > My Computer > AutoPlay > Types.
TweakUI is available from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp.

if the problem still persists go to microsoft download & download Autofix
save it so you can easily find it maybe desk top open it & run it follow
instructions it will ask which drive you are having problems with It then
resets your policys you will have to reboot & everything should be OK
