Autorun/Autoplay

I want to disable autorun completely. even as an option. I have gone through
and modified the registry from the various sources on the MS site, even from
3rd party tweak sites and even from this very newsgroup. nothing seems to
work the way i want. when i put a disc in, i right click on it, the main
action is to OPEN, when i insert another disc, the main action is, once
again, AutoPlay. i hate autoplay/autorun. its very annoying. how can i
totally rid my machine of this? (Windows XP Pro SP2) note: tweakui is not
stopping it, i went in to the registry, edited the nodrivetypeautorun entry,
even the policy editor, the computer services editor, ive been everywhere
this site has sent me. nothing works. HELP!!!

Right click the CD Drive in "My Computer" > Properties > Auto Play (tab),
select, "Take No Action" > OK.

If you install Tweak UI for XP, you will be able to disable it easily.

Under My Computer > Auto Play > Types > uncheck "Enable AutoPlay for CD and
DVD Drives".
