Autoplay window every 20 sec

I installed Encarta on my computer (under Win XP) and allowed a few
programs to access the Internet (when Norton antivirus asked me about
it) Now I have a window called 'Autoplay' appearing every 20 sec
for about 10 sec or so in the left top corner with the sweeping brush,
progress bar and the Cancel button Does it sound like a worm ? I
tried antispyware but it could not find it!
Any ideas?

It could be the MSI Win Installer needs to cleaned or you have a bootable CD
in your CD/DVD Drive.

The system is looking for a missing program or program component: a file
has been deleted or moved, or a program has been uninstalled. Uninstall
_always_ leaves junk behind, both files and registry entries. Windows
tries to do what the registry tells it to -- that's what the registry is
for.

Try a registry cleaner. It will remove invalid registry entries. There
are also utilities to find orphaned program components, which can be
deleted.

If you are daunted by the prospect of using such powerful utilities,
take your machine to a tech who can clean up the system. Consider buying
a service contract. You take your car in for regular maintenance, why
not your computer?
