Autoplay not working

T

Trent Rowe

A couple little oddities with my system. When I go to enable or disable
System Restore the box is greyed out saying that it is restricted because of
a group policy, and my computer no longer autoplays cds. I have Tweakui for
XP and have set it on, but it still won't autoplay any type of cd.

How do see what group policy is set blocking me from System Restore and
possibly other things and how do get autoplay to start working again?

A bit of additinal info. There are two users on my machine, myself as the
primary user, and one other person. I made the other person part of the
'users' group and myself part the administrators group giving myself full
access.

Thanks for any ideas!

Hi Trent,

For Pro: GPEDIT.MSC can be used to disable/enable System Restore. Disabling
it causes the tab to vanish from System Properties.

Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, System, System Restore.
The option is turn off System Restore, and it should be Disabled or Not
Configured.

For Home: Go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\SystemRestore
Value name: DisableSR. Value of 1 turns it off, 0 or deleting it turns it
on.

Enable CD AutoPlay for Pro or Home (Line 10)
