Autoplay DVD

I just did a fresh install of Windows XP-SP2.
The machine has a Lite-On Dual layer DVD burner.
When I insert a DVD movie in it, it brings up an Explorer windows with
"JACKET_P" and VIDEO_TS".
On my other computers it brings up the dialogue asking what I want to
open it with.
That's what I want. In Windows Explorer under drive properties under the
Auto Play tab, I have chosen "Ask every Time" and checked the box that
says to perform this action every time. I also tried choosing Windows
Media Player.
But no matter what I choose there, it is still coming up in Explorer.
What's the cure?
Thanks.

Did you install a proper DVD decoder?

Media Player Classic, Sonic DVD, Windows Media Player.
The DVDs will play in any of them, but you have to open the player first.
