Autoplay Doesn't Work

F

Food Snobbery

I've seen numerous posts about the autoplay feature in Vista, so its
obviously a problem...

I have autoplay set for the majority of instances where I would like
it...but I get absolutely NOTHING!!!

Nothing when a DVD, CD, Program Disk, or any other kind of disk is
inserted...NOTHING...

Obviously there is a problem with this feature, as I've seen no difinitive
corrective action posted to get this "feature" to work properly...

I'm about to chuck Vista, and go back to WinXP...This new system is supposed
to be "designed" for Vista...but all in all...I think its crap...from
features that don't work...to being told, as the administrator on my own
machine, that I don't have the permission to do things...to the fact that I
can't seem to delete a directory unless I clean every subfile and
subdirectory out...even if I myself created them...

In your Control Panel, open the "Default Programs" applet.
Click on "Change AutoPlay settings" and make your desired
changes, then click on "Save".

Food Snobbery, hey don't say Vista is a crap. That wouldn't help you to
solve your problem. Take it easy... Maybe Autoplay in all types of media is
disabled?

Try this... If you have the program WinBubble, Go to Security Tab > check
and uncheck then click the apply button.

Ok, If you feel that you want to do it manually in the registry, here:
go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

delete the key NoDriveTypeAutoRun
