When I shut down the computer, how can I retain the last session's opened
applications, so that I don't have to re-open everything I'm working on when
I start Windows XP again? I have about 10 applications to open, so it will
be a big saver of efforts in finding all that I need....
Thanks

You could place a copy of the shortcuts for these 10
applications into your Startup folder so that they launch
automatically when you log on.

There's also an option within Folder Options, View tab, to "Restore
previous folder windows at logon". This reopens IE pages, and I guess,
folders. It may not reopen the programs you were running before the
shutdown though.
