Automatically convert email to calendar entry

I want to push an entry into my Calendar, based on key words in an email.
The mail has standard subject and text body (generated by another system).
e.g. Mail contains..
Component : MSwidget
Release number : 6.0.18
Release type : Maintenance Release
Release status : Planned
Release date : 2006-02-16 12:00:00

How to extract "Release date" and generate a Calendar entry for this day?
The rules Wizard is limited to mail directories. //DJ

The best you can do without writing code (post to an Outlook programming
group for that) is to drag and drop the email to your calendar - right
clicking before you drag gives you several options for how you want the
information transferred.

As I indicated by my "The best you can do" means that there is no automatic
method to do what you want. Sorry if my suggesting a method that is not
automatic does not meet your exacting standard.

So, to be short and to the point, NO, there is no automatic method for doing
this but you probably already knew this. Guess you are off to a programming
group, right?

Well, I can learn to be even clearer when stating my requirements, so thanks
for that. And yes, it's already (unanswered) at Development.
Unfortunately, subject taxonomy assumes that I know (which typye) the
solution method already, requiring a choice VBA or Forms.

Is this such an unusual request?
Several background activities I deal with on a recurring basis are prompted
by an email, and distract me from the creative tasks I prefer to dedicate my
energy to.

No, it is not an unusual request except for the part about it being an
automatic part of Outlook's native, in-built abilities. It is an obscure
request for the 99.5% or more of the users of the calendar object so that is
why Microsoft provides an Outlook Object Model, programming tools, and
several help files, as well as developers who also offer help sites for
programming in the missing .5% of requested functionality.

Try http://www.outlookcode.com for starters - it is run by Sue Mosher
(Outlook MVP) and widely recognized as one of the best help sites Otlook
developers ever have.
