I have a Windows2000 stand alone workstation in an office
with a multi line telephone system. My modem is plugged
into the "line 2" of my phone system as is the other
workstation at my office. When my computer is OFF if line
2 rings or if the other computer dials out (to dial up the
internet) on line 2, my computer turns ON. This problem
has always happened. I do not have fax software loaded to
auto answer nor can I find any where in the modem settings
or network settings that have an auto on or phone answer
feature. Recently we replaced the hard drive due to
another problem and of course reloaded windows and all my
programs and still the computer turns on when the phone
line is in use. To combat the error I unplug the phone
line from my modem until I need it but this is becoming a
real bother. Please help!
Thank you.

Nothing to do with the operating system. Look for the setting in cmos setup
and or check your mb manual.
