Automatic update installation problem

Martin

When shutting down I have been seeing a notice that updates are being
installed. There is a repeating message on the final screen: "Installing
update 1 of 1" . This alternates with a notice saying "Don't turn off or
unplug your computer". It will be shut down automatically".

This goes on for up to 20 minutes and the computer doesn't shut down. I
have to power it off. Can it actually take that long to install these
updates which have been downloaded automatically?

Then when I check to see whether there are updates that still need to be
installed there are none.

Anyone have an idea why this is happening?

Thanks for the reply.

That's the confusing part. It would probably have to be the last one
automatically loaded during the session before the shutdown, but as I said
there is no indication that there are any that still have to be installed.

Unfortunately nothing there that sounds like my problem.
