Click Start > Run
Type "cmd" (w/o quotes)
Press Enter
At the command prompt copy and paste the following command:

sc sdset wuauserv
DA;;CCLCSWRPWPDTLOCRRC;;;SY)(A;;CCDCLCSWRPWPDTLOCRSDRCWDWO;;;BA)(A;;CC
LCSWLOCRRC;;;AU)(A;;CCLCSWRPWPDTLOCRRC;;;PU)


All in one line, you should get a "Succeeded" message.

Restart the system and then try Windows Update again.
