Hi;

I would like to know how to automatically shutdown the computer when I exit
a particular program. Let's face it I am lazy. I what my TV through my
computer. I can exit the program to what TV through its remote control, but
now I want to go one step further and completely shut down the PC when I exit
this program.

You would want to start that program in a bat file and then the line
after the progam starts use shutdown.exe. You may find more assistance
in Start, Help and Support.

Download wizmo from grc.com. Set it up with the shutdown command then use
your remote to trigger it, or set up a shutdown command in a batch file and
use your remote to trigger that. I don't know what remote (TV Card) you have
so you will have to work out for yourself how to set it to run the shutdown
program or batch file you choose.

There are a number of shutdown commands here I'm sure you can find a
solution with the info I've given and the help at this site.

Bob;

Where would I start the bat file? I looked for the autoexec.bat but there
was nothing in it (it had 0 bytes). Then I read that the autoexec.bat had
been replaced by autoexec.nt, but could find anywhere in there that windows
was called. I figured to put it after the windows call. Am I right?

If I make my own bat file where do I call it so that it starts right after
startup?

thanks

If you want it to start as soon as you log in, put a shortcut to it in
the Startup folder on the Start, Programs menu. *** Make sure it works
as desired first*** or you will find it shutting down right after it starts.
