Automatic scan

I have the latest (Jan 2007) Defender installed. It (as were all the
previous versions) is set up with the default to scan automatically everyday
at 2AM. It never does this. I get warnings every week telling me that I
haven't scanned for xx days. Why is this?

Is the computer actually on at 2am, or is it in stand by mode or hybernation.
If it is in hybernation mode, you'll propably have to "wake" it to perform
the scan.

Control Panel>Schedeled Tasks>Dbl click MP Scheduled Scan>Settings Tab>Check
the box "Wake the computer to run this task"

I had the same problem. Old Defender didn't have this "bug".

My computer is not hiberated or asleep in any way. It's just running. So
that is not the problem.

Aha. It appears that the Task Scheduler service itself is disabled (I don't
know why), but I set it to automatic and started it. This should fix the
problem.

Hi catozzi and Senin

Search this forum group for "WD won't scan automatically" and follow the
instructions in that thread to set up a windows scheduled task (as the WD
scheduled one is known bug). Don't forget to unhide the windows task etc
as per instructions and set your "run as" password.
