I'm running Windows 2000 Pro with all the latest updates; no viruses discovered, including no sasser

When I start the PC, the system reboots when "Loading your personal settings" appears on the screen. This now happens 2 times & then system starts up correctly. Also reboots at other times without notice & inconsistently

I recently removed a USB 2 card which was causing (I think) the system to freeze. At the same time & connected USB 2 hub to the orginal (old) USB ports on the motherboard. (In a related (?) problem, the devices on those hubs are not recognized when system starts (although they have been recognized from time to time in the past)

Also at that time, I installed a network card and connected to a Netgear router for a new internet cable connection

Should I chuck it all and install XP or what? What problems would I encounter?

Help, please, help.

Hi

Since this often happens while the PC is logging the user on, I think the
following KB article will help to see what's going on.

How to Enable User Environment Debug Logging in Retail Builds of Windows
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;221833

This gives an enormous amount of information. Bear in mind that it is
normal to see some errors and warnings in this log file.

If you're not sure what it all means, post back with the relevant bits of
the log file.

Hope this helps

Oli
