Automatic restarting online?

Something new happened today. I was online and a caption appeared on screen.
I didn't catch it all but it was headed Network Connection. It was giving a
countdown in seconds to what seemed to be an automatic re-connection after a
cut-off.
The timing would seem to fit in with a two-hour termination by Virgin - my
ISP. What puzzles me is the restarting without needing to click anywhere -
something I don't remember happening previously.
Can I find in my settings what is happening here and will it be the norm in
future do you think?
If it is the norm, then all I need is someone to tell me how to re-set WinMx
while I'm asleep.
Thanks in advance,

H

I would make sure that this is not in fact an effect of the blast worm
having got in: Go to
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_qr.htm#rpc
and get the VBS Script file to check the matter out and fix it if
necessary. It will also link to the patch you need from Microsoft to
guard against it.

And first make sure that you have the firewall enabled - in Network
connections, r-click the connection you dial, Properties - Advanced page
