Automatic Poping of Dialup Window

i am using Window Xp Professional. When i am am not
conected to the net i get a message in regular intervels
that "a (program) has requested information from
microsoft.com. would i you like to connect to internet?"
this is very irritating and also pops up in between of
games which hangs or exits the game.
please help me

4 things to check
1. Disable Windows Updates
2. This could be AV software (definition downloads)
3. In the registry search for enableautodial (one word)
make sure this value is set to 0 and not 1
4. In date and time properties, uncheck the synchronise
with Internet tine server check box.
