Automatic parenthesis and dashes when entering phone number

Outlook used to automatically enter parentheses and dashes in phone numbers
when I added a number to a contact. Now it doesn't do that. Why not?

Make sure you have your Dialing Properties set up correctly for your
location. In WinXP:
- Start > Control Panel > Printers And Other Hardware > Phone And Modem
Options
- Under tab "Dialing Rules", click on "New" or "Edit", as appropriate.
