Automatic page number generation for keywords in a chapter

I have a question regarding automatic page number generation for keywords
created for a chapter. Is there any option provided my MS office 2007 which
will allow us to automatically generate the page numbers where this
particular keyword is occuring in the chapter and display all the page
numbers where it has occured. Also is there any way to automatically generate
keywords for a chapter.

Hope my question is understood, if not just go through any particular
textbook and the index which will have keywords and page numbers displayed
where it has occurred in the entire textbook. I just wanted to apply the same
methodology to all the chapters instead of just one index at the end, However
I even dont know how to generate that index too. Any help is appreciated.

Thank You

You can create an index for a single chapter. Bookmark the chapter and use
the \b switch in the INDEX field followed by the bookmark name. See the
"Field codes: Index field" Help topic.

You want a list of keywords, with page numbers. What is that if not an
index? Or are you describing a partial TOC?

Okay, different bookmark. When you bookmark a range and include that
bookmark in the XE field, it results in a range of pages in the index (any
index). When you bookmar a range and include that bookmark in the INDEX
field, it draw index entries from just that range.

For example:

{ INDEX \b "bookmark_name_here" }

Use Alt+F9 to show/hide field codes. After you have changed the field code,
press F9 to update.

Hi,

How do I get sub index keywords to appear under a main index keyword entry
for example say:

Computer 1,2,3,50
services 5,6
forensics 70,80

using office, I have been working using a third party tool TExtract and it
works using that but few words do not come under the main index keyword say I
was working on a chapter and created keyword index which appeared like this,

client 3, 8-12, 14-15, 17, 19, 21, 26-32, 37-41, 47-8, 53, 57, 59-60, 62-5
enabled 38
remote 60
wireless 63
client authentication 39, 41
client category 3
client computer 22
client decrypts 32
client ID 31
client IP address 31
client machine 8, 31, 63
client requests 12
client software 46
client stations 62

my question is why are the other word combinations does not come under the
main index keyword Client.

Thank You

When you create the index entry (Alt+Shift+X to open the Mark Index Entry
dialog), there is a box for "subentry." If you're creating the fields by
hand, you have to include both the entry and subentry. For example, the XE
fields for some of your examples below would be:

{ XE "Computer:services" }
{ XE "Computer:forensics" }

Similarly, for your "client" entries you would need:

{ XE "client:authentication" } instead of { XE "client authentication"}
( XE "client:category" } instead of { XE "client category" }

and so on.

Thank you for your help.
Can you please help me how to get the page numbers appear for a content
which is referenced from a website or from some other textbook.

I am using Endnote to do references, I am able to add a reference but cannot
understand how to link it to a paragraph to which I am referring and make the
page number appear right after the reference.

Ex: I am able to get

Computer Science as reference

but not as

Computer Science, Pg 100-123

Also please let me know if you have any idea how to write Appendix with page
number appearing where that particular word is located in our text.

Thank You
