List numbering tied to chapter number

I need to set up automatic numbering of slides in my document. I have
different chapters set up within the document. I am using the page numbering
feature where you include the chapter number with the page number (Page 1-1
for chapter 1; Page 2-1 for chapter 2, etc.). Can this same concept be
applied to the slide numbering? Basically I have a slide icon inside of a
table column and I need each one to number consecutively for each chapter
(Slide 1-1. Slide 1-2. for chapter 1; Slide 2-1. Slide 2-2. for chapter 2).
This will NOT be generated inside the TOC.

Thanks for your help!

Yes. Use the Insert | Reference | Caption feature and check the option for
"Include chapter number."

Is it possible to include this in a style?

Well, it depends. If, for example, you're using Heading 1 for your numbered
chapter titles, then you could conceivably use Heading 2 (if you're not
using it for anything else) for the slide captions; see
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/OutlineNumbering.html. But the
captions inserted using Insert | Reference | Caption use the Caption style,
and the numbering is provided by SEQ fields, which can't be included in a
style.
