Automatic envelope address

N

Nancy

After typing a letter, I select Tools/Envelopes & Labels
and the address that is in the letter appears on the
envelope without retyping it. Another person in this
office does the same thing, but no address appears on her
envelope - she has to cut & paste or retype the address on
the envelope. Can anyone tell me how to set up the
automatic addressing feature? Thanks!

Nancy,

Look at Tools>Options>User Information and see if a mailing address is
included on your other users computer.

Hi Greg,

I believe you are talking about the return address. I think Nancy is saying
that on one computer the wizard automatically picks up the addressee info
and not on the other. I've noticed the same thing and expect it is due to
the template being used or the styles for the address. I know that if I
select the address, it is much more likely to show up in the addressee
information. I go one step further and press Ctrl-C after selecting and
before going to the envelope wizard. That way if it doesn't pick up the
address, I just press Ctrl-V and insert it myself.

Charles,

Yes after having another look at the OP I think you are probably right.
Thanks for correcting this.

The address stands much more chance of picking up the address from the
addressee block of the letter if it is formatted in either the normal or
inside address paragraph style and that it has no more than five lines. Word
has to be able to uniquely identify it as the address. Selecting the address
first is usually sufficient for the addressing tool to pick it up.
