automatic display adjust

Please help me get rid of the automatic display adjust.
Every time I boot my system, the display is reset to 800x600.
I hate it! and I can't find how to get rid of it. I have tried
everything and the display settings just will not stick.
I'm slowly going nuts over this, I cannot stand it a day longer.

HELP HELP HELP.

If the monitor is doing this rather than Windows, try using the menu
button on the front of the monitor to see if there's an option there to
turn off the auto-adjust "feature".

If it's done after Windows opens, the option should be in Control
Panel's Display Properties. Post the monitor model number, and the
graphics card model and a News Group volunteer may look up the specific
details for you, or recognize the symptoms from their monitor or
graphics card. Include what model computer you have too.

I do not see a way to turn off the auto-adjust feature of my monitor.
It does happen after windows starts, so I do think it's something
windows is doing.
I have a Hyundai ImageQuest L150A flatscreen LCD monitor for which I've
installed the latest driver; my graphics card is Nvidia GeForce2 MX/MX
400. I have the latest driver for this too. I have not found the option
to turn off auto-adjust anywhere in control panel. I've run the nvidia
Nview desktop manager, but there I cannot find it either.

You mean it's the refresh rate that determines it?

that lets me choose a refresh rate and resolution (not from NVidia, but
it works with NVidia graphic cards). Another utility let me update my
NVIdia driver and seemed to find an even newer driver version. Between
these two, the problem finally has gone away. I wasn't sure what finally
solved the problem, but you seem to suggest that autoadjust and refresh
rate are linked somehow. In any case, I'm glad this worked. You can't
imagine how restful it is to boot into windows and not have to reset the
screen resolution every time!
