Automatic bullets

Hi Everyone,

I'm using Word 2007.

I'd like to know if there's a way of permanently changing the style
associated with automatic bullets. Personally, I don't like the way the
bullet comes in from the margin and then only leaves a few spaces before the
bulleted paragraph starts. I have tried to create my own bullet style, and
this works while I have Word open - but when I re-open Word the following
morning, the style has either disappeared or reverted to the standard
automatic bullet style.

Another issue is that if you alter the settings for the automatic bullets,
it doesn't remember those settings for the next time you use bullets in the
same document. I find this incredibly frustrating.

Can anyone help me with this very annoying problem?

Creating a paragraph style with bullet formatting is the way to do this.
Note also that there are built-in styles named List Bullet, List Bullet 2,
etc. which you can make use of. To save the changes of a style so that you
can reuse it in future documents, choose the "New documents based on this
template" option in the Modify Style dialog box.

To display the Modify Style dialog box in Word 2007: Press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S
to display the Styles pane. Click the Manage Styles button at the bottom. On
the Edit tab, locate the style name, and click the Modify button.
(Alternatively, for styles that are visible in the Styles pane, you can
right-click and choose Modify from the context menu.)
