AutoExec.nt with DOS Applications

I have two WindowsXP computers. One allows me to run old Dos applications
while the other gives me an error, "Windows/System32/Autoexec.nt System file
not suitable for running MS-DOS and MS Windows Applications."

Why am I getting this error on only one maching? How can I correct this
error so both machines can run the DOS programs? Can anybody steer me to
articles or somewhere I can read up on running DOS programs in WindowsXP?

Thanks

Gibson,

The autoexec.nt got deleted somehow. On the machine where u can run the Dos
applications, go to that Dir and copy the Autoexec.nt file to a floppy or
flash drive and copy it to the "Windows/System32.Autoexec.nt" on the other
machine.

Try a virus scan. There's at least one virus that damages autoexec.nt.
