Can't run Quickbooks 2000 after a recent Windows XP update

I tried opening Quickbooks 2000 and a couple of other programs and received
the following message:
'16 Bit Windows Subsystem
C:\ Windows\System32\Autoexec.NT.
The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows
applications. Choose 'close' to terminate the application.'
Can anyone help me??

The "autoexec.nt" file in C:\WINDOWS\system32 has likely been deleted by
spyware or malware on your system. Go to C:\WINDOWS\Repair and copy
autoexec.nt back into the system32 folder.
