I use a DOS version of WordPerfect daily.

Just today, it began to fail to run because autoexec.nt was missing. I
pasted a new copy and it was fine until I rebooted. Then missing.

Is this a new virus/trojan? Any clue as to what is doing thsi?

Thank you.

Symptoms: Programs you used to be able to run now give
you an error message when you go to launch. Error
message says program is not suitable and mentions
AUTOEXEC.NT.

Autoexec.nt is located in the C:\windows\system32
directory. If you have the installation disk, you can
extract the file from there using the following command:
expand e:\i386\autoexec.nt_ c:\windows\system32
\autoexec.nt

If you go to reboot and your AUTOEXEC.NT file goes
missing again, you probably have the following program
running:

c:\program files\windupdates

The programs in this directory appear to launch at
startup and deletes the AUTOEXEC.NT file. Lucky this one
is not more malicious!!
