Gwbasic keyboard issue

I copied on a Windows XP PC (Italian) an old copy of Gwbasic.exe.
It works fine, but inside gwbasic the keyboard is mapped as US-English.
The same copy of Gwbasic works fine on another Windows XP PC (Italian).
I had a look to either autoexec.nt and config.nt on both machines but I
don't see any reference to the keyboard layout.
Where can I check for the keyboard layout configuration of MS-DOS
applications?

In a command window on both the working and non-working computer type
the command chcp and press enter.

This will tell you what code page the command shell is using.
If they are both the same then this isn't the issue, but if not, on the
non-working machine, type chcp plus the number of the codepage from the
working machine and this should make gwbasic work.
