Autocomplete of email address in a new email

When I type a name, Outlook makes a suggestion which is
not in my contact list.
It uses something from a previous email.

For example, I do not have a contact "Jim Jones"
I have previously sent him an email but did not make
a "Contact" for him.

As I start to type in the email address of a new message,
I type "Jim" and the autofill will pop up
with "(e-mail address removed)" (or whatever).

Is there any way to delete the "history" of previous email
addresses so it will not do this.

Thanks!
Chris

When an unwanted name appears, tab over to it and press delete. I am
assuming this if on Outlook 2002 or 2003. Otherwise, forget it.

Yes, I am using Outlook 2002.

The unwanted name does not get put into the "To:" box
until I click on it, so there is nothing to delete.

I have created a new contact "Jim Johnson -
(e-mail address removed)".

When I create a new email, the name "Jim Jones" keeps
popping up. I want to be able to select "Jim Jones".

Why is "Jim Jones" popping up at all?

I have researched this before with no luck if anyone has a
clue i would love to know, thanks.
(e-mail address removed)

Oops. Mistake in previous post.

I want to select "Jim Johnson" but "Jim Jones" keeps
popping up.

Have you previously sent mail to Jim Johnson? Outlook builds its cache from
previously mailed to individuals.

Yes, I have sent an email previously to both individuals.
How can I delete the cache?

Chris

Have you gone so far as to type the Joh in Johnson?

Yes.
If I type "Jim Joh", the pop up disappears.

I no longer have Jim Jones in my contact list.
But I simply want to type "Jim".

TIA
Chris

You can delete the cached entries you don't want by starting to type the
name in a TO field. When the pop-up list appears use your arrow keys on
the keyboard to select the one you want to delete, then press the DELETE
key.
