AutoCompelte

Alain Dekker

Whenever I go to a certain website and type in a certain field, I get a
short list of AutoComplete entries. I personally quite like this.
Annoyingly, though, the list does not contain the entry I partiocularly want
on this occasion. When I enter a different entry, complete what I'm doing
and then return (either immediately or after a reboot), the AutoComplete
list again shows the same entries, and NOT the one just entered.

Why is this?

Can I force the AutoComplete to insert my entry (maybe manually modifying
the file with the AutoCmplete entries?).

I did find this on a MS website somewhere:
"The list of matches that the AutoComplete feature suggests for forms or
user names and passwords on forms is stored on your computer and is
encrypted to protect your privacy. Web sites cannot gain access to this
information unless you submit the form or log in by using the suggested
password."

I understand this, though I do find it stupid - why not jsut encrypt the
passwords (I don't let AutoComplete remember passowrd for me anyway). What
do I care if someone can get past and look at my AutoComplete list? If they
can get pass the Firewall and Anti-Viruis then I've bigger things to worry
about than whether I entered my name as "Alain" on one website and "Darth
Vader" on another.

Anyone got any suggestions for manually entering AutoComplete entries?

Thanks,
Alain
