AutoComplete not Completing

T

Tom Lake

I used to be able to start typing in form text boxes on various Website
(eBay for example) and have all previous entries that started with the typed
letters appear. Now I get nothing. The old entries were there but nothing
new was added when I typed a new word. I made sure Autocomplete is turned
on in Internet options and even went to Kelly's Website to see if there's a
reg fix for me but found nothing. I've cleared all forms and passwords but
it hasn't helped. In fact all that did was to erase the old entries that
used to be there. New entries still aren't being added. Is there any way
to get AutoComplete working again? TIA

This fix applies to Outlook and other programs that store passwords
in the Protected Storage System Provider sub-branch of the Registry.
It also corrects some issues with Internet Explorer and Autocomplete.

Tom & Carey,

THIS JUST HAPPENED OVER THE WEEKEND FOR ME AS WELL!

And the culprit is the NEW Yahoo Messenger. Right after I installed the program with Yahoo's default MAIL AUTOCOMPLETE fuction that installs when you install messenger, I noticed I have the EXACT same problem. I love autocomplete and I miss it. PLEASE HELP!

Thanks.

Hi,

Restore IE AutoComplete Password Prompt (Line 13) Right hand side
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

AutoComplete Mode Enabled or Disabled (Line 37)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Close IE. Then go to Start/Run and type in: services.msc
Scroll down to Protected Storage. Note the Status column. If Protected
Storage is running, Started will appear under Status.

If Protected Storage is not started, start it. To do this, right-click
Protected Storage, and then click Start. If Protected Storage is started,
stop and then restart it.

If you receive a Stop Other Services message, record the names of the other
services that will be stopped, and then click Yes. Then restart the others
services. Close out then reopen IE.
