Autoarchiving clients data. Retaining the path.

We are currently going through implementing autoarchiving into the company.
We have manually gone around every client and set the path to their
individual network folder. However when the move computers the autoarchive
path seems to default to the c:\ drive. We currently use roaming profiles,
and would have thought that the settings would have moved with the client.
This is becoming a big problem, as our company believes in 'hot desking', and
there are a lot of people who cannot access important 'old' emails because
they are located on the hard drive of another computer. Hope that you can help

Do you realize you're riskig those archives by having them on a network
share? Network-hosted PSTs are not supported and could lead to data loss.

The problem that we have at moment is that the exchange databases are filling
up very fast, and we need to reduce the size quickly. After asking clients to
housekeep their mailboxes, we decided to archive data older than 6 months. We
cannot archive their .PST folder to the hard-drive as the clients are roaming
and may use a different computer every day of the week. With having the .PST
files on the network, we get a backup of them daily. If there are any
alternatives, i would be interested in them.

Roaming profiles should allow PSTs to be on the hard drive, provided they're
in the
%UserProfile% path. I'm pretty sure they'll get copied to the hard drive
when the person logs in to Windows and copied back to the roaming profile
store when they log out.
