autoarchive checkbox:what does delete expired items(email only)do

On the Autoarchive dialog box, if the 'Delete expired items (email folders
only)' box is checked, what is the effect?

Does this prevent the the corresponding subfolders in the Archive Folders
list from growing in size ad infinitum?

if items have an expiration date set (many do not) they will be deleted when
they expire. It only works on folders that are being archived, not items
already archived. if your company uses expiration dates, then don't archive
the messages.
