I received a automatic windows update on 9/11 and my
machine has been hosted every since. First of all I am
surfunf the internet and the system crashes and begins to
reboot. The system comes up in windows and crashes again
while load automatic load software such as virus
protection, etc. The only way to get the system to stay
up was to shut completely down and turn the power back
on. While the system is coming up a message will display
that there was a read write memory error and that memory
has been decreased. Once the system is up I have noticed
several things. 1. Windows explorer - occasonally will
display that there is a problem and must shut down.
Actually this happens quite a bit in just about any
application. Nothing seems to be stable. 2. Images
viewed in Windows explorer are sometime distorted or have
a overlapping color panel on an image. 3. If I try to
read a PDF - Microsoft Frontpage will try to install.
The latest thing is now my Lexar CF reader does show up
as a Firewire utility. To beat all, If I try to
restore from 9/10 it shoes that there are no other
restore dates. Lately my MS error have been pointing at
Mcaffee software as being the error. Frankly I haven't a
clue as to what the hell is going on. Any assistance is
welcome.

Hello!
Most unfortunately you have a myriad of problems.
To know exactly which are causing problems; you open control
panel>Administrative Tools>Event viewer -here you look for application
errors.
You may also try in safe mode.
I guess that you have some problems with antivirus software. You uninstall it
and give a retry.If ok then install later.Update windows,drivers,BIOS

TWILSON, Wow, what a set of problems. Go into add/remove
and delete that last update, reset your machine to ask
you before any new install goes in, set a system restore
before you allow the download, this goes for ANY
download. Run a diskcleanup and defrag. Download
Dustbuster (freeware) and Spybot, also free. Use these
then run McAfee while online to find updates. Now get off
the net and shut down everything on your unit except
McAfee and run a full scan. I usually run about 55-60000
files and it takes around 90 minutes as it grinds away.
If this doesn't help Email me and we will go from there.
Good Luck
