auto volume control

I remember when I tested Vista Beta 2 I noticed that when I play music if
another program is making sound, the music volume would automatically be
lowered so I can hear the other program sound, and when the other program
sound would end the music volume would return to normal.

It was one of the features that impressed me the most, I tend to listen to
music very loud and when someone talks on a voice chat server that I use I
have to lower the music and ask them what they said.

I recently built a new computer and I bought Vista 64bit and I am
disappointed to see this feature gone, I really wish I could find how to turn
this thing on but I can't find this anywhere.

Can someone please tell me how I can enable this?

Thanks

I would have thought that this would depend on the particular application

See if this setting helps ....

Control Panel > Sound > Click on sound device > [Click on sound device] >
Properties > Advanced

Look for an 'Allow applications to take exclusive control ....' setting

No, I tried that before, It's default was checked, I tried to uncheck it and
that doesn't do it.
