Copy the shortcut for that program into the startup group.
An easy method of doing this would be to click on Start/All Programs/(your
programs group) and right click on the icon that starts your program.
Select Copy from the menu that pops up. Now go back out to Start\All
Programs, right click on Startup and choose either Open or Open All Users
(depending on wether or not you want this program to run for all users that
log in or just yourself). In the window that pops up, click edit/paste.
Log off and back in and the program should launch.

Make a shortcut to the program by right dragging its file to the desktop
and taking 'Create shortcut here'; or by right dragging the menu item
for it out of All programs to the desktop and taking 'Copy here'
Now right click on the Start button and take 'Open All Users' near the
bottom. In the window that opens d-click Programs and in that Startup.
Drag the shortcut into that window
