I've found a small issue with the Auto Start agent...it keeps saying that
there has been a change to the startup folder.

trouble is that its lying! its a link to a c# .net app that I wrote, and I
copied the link created during the installation to the startup folder.

Is there a property of the link that's being updated regularly which is
confusing the auto start agent?

When something is added to the startup folder, for any reason, it is
recorded as a change. You DID change the startup folder contents. Many
spyware programs will do this. That is why it is flagged.

oops, I wasn't clear enough!

I know it should tell me...the problem is that it tells me, I say OK allow,
it says succeded and then next boot it asks me again, and again.

Surely once I've allowed the change it shouldn't ask me every single time?
if it should ask every time, why is it only the one link that it picks up,
out of the 5 or so that I have?
