Hi. I wonder is there a way to respond to a user when I have recieved mail
messsage from them but in a popup or alert format, not an email message
format message? Somthing like the old Win Popup through Outlook on
recieving a message.

Any help would be very welcome.

No, that is a whole different protocol. If that messenger service would work
over SMTP as well it would bring SPAM to a whole different level.

What is wrong with the current method where the sender decides on how/if he
wants to be notified when a message is received or read by using receipts?
For the receipts you can then create a rule to show a certain notification
(if desired).

Hi. My objective is that when a users sends a mail to a resource( or a
meeting request to the resource) that they will be prompted about the
procedures to book the resource - the banner I need to have displayed is
really quite - but it is displayed on the senders PC, not the recipients.
As I undertsand it, the alerts and noticications are send to me (assume I am
the resource) when I recieve the message but I want the alert or notification
to go to the user who has just sent the request\mail.

Again, I would be very grateful for any help.
