Hello

Why did my PC auto reboot after it did a bug chcck?

Here is the message:
Event Type: Information
Event Source: Save Dump
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1001
Date: 4/13/2004
Time: 9:12:47 PM
User: N/A
Computer: LINE100
Description:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck
was: 0xc0000218 (0xe1471508, 0x00000000, 0x00000000,
0x00000000). A dump was saved in: Microsoft Windows 2000
[v15.2195].

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

I did back up the dump file.

Can someone please explain this to me? The PC is an HMI
and I cannot have the PC rebooting all by itself becuase
it takes the controls away from the operator.

Thanks,

Roy Costa

How big is the system file in
%systemroot%\system32\config
If it's much bigger than ~13 mB this may be a problem or possibly you have
some bad RAM

Hello

The (Mini041304-01.dump file) is 64KB. On the day before
I had this rebooting issue the PC got a blue screen after
a manual reboot. I powered the PC down and restarted the
PC and there was no more blue screen however this
rebooting problem did not happen until about 10 hours
later.

Roy

Yes, mini dumps will always be 64 kB. I was asking about the system hive of
the registry. If this has only happened once then I wouldn't be too
concerned as yet.
