Auto Insert Notification:Turn Off?

S

Sunny

When I insert a disk in the zip drive to do backup from
within my application a full screen window pops up
displaying the data on the zip drive. I am told by Iomega
that this is an os feature of Xp that can be turned off in
the registry. I didn't use Iomega software when installing
this, xp set it up. In device manager it is listed under
storage volumes, generic volume. I've turned off autoplay.
I tried to use gpedit.msc (borrowed it from the nt server)
but get msg "snap in failed to initiate". Thanks to thise
who've tried to help. Any help would really be appreciated!
Please!

Use TweakUI - one of the XP Powertoys from (if you have installed XP
SP1)
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

If you have not installed SP!, the earlier version can be found at
http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

Once installed you will find it in Start - All Programs - Powertoys for
Windows XP

IN its My Computer - Autoplay - Drives, uncheck the letter for the drive
concerned. Leave it on for CDs and *especially* for CD Burners.

And BTW if you have XP Home, gpedit does not work with it
