I would like to update the front end database from time to time but
sometimes it is difficult to change it on each workstation. Can someone
have any utility to do it automatically.

Thanks,

Scott

You must not have done a search before posting your question. Have a
look at Tony Toews' "Auto FE Updater":

<quote>
The Auto FE Updater utility will automatically update the Microsoft
Access front end (FE) MDB/MDE and associated files from a server to
client workstation(s) or other network locations. Users always have
the latest version whenever you roll out a new version. The utility
guarantees a consistent front end to the user. You can lock out users if
there is a problem in the backend or you need to make some schema
changes.

Tony's utility is so simple, even I can use it and I've never had any
trouble with the places I've put it in.

Good stuff :)

Thanks muchly. But it can be troublesome to get it going the first
time. And the utility needs a lot of work to add functionality.

Tony,

I'm the last guy on the planet you want writing batch files, editing .ini
files etc.

I set it up the first time in under an hour :)

My only complaint is that it copies everything in that directory (which you
may have changed by now...), so I have to watch what lands there...

Real-world stuff I run across with SQL Server:

Ah, well, umm, it's been quite a while but I recall having a DOS batch
file for my Fidonet BBS back in the mid to late 90s that was 30 or 50
Kb in size.

That's on my lengthy list of todo's.

Dear All

Thanks for your recommendation. I have got the documents and program and it
looks to take sometime to set it up. Will give it a try.
